The building layer is one of the base components of the Seattle Campus GIS base maps that are produced by Engineering Services. It serves as a reference layer to orient map users by providing the location of buildings on campus. Unlike the other base components the building layer includes buildings from all UW campuses not just the Seattle Campus. In addition, the building layer is used to display a multitide of department specific information through spatial views.For the Seattle Campus buildings the spatial locations are produced in AutoCAD by the Engineering Services Civil Engineer and are then pulled into GIS on a semiannual basis. |
